Improving Our Homes » Medical Adaptions
Each year Linstone applies to Communities Scotland for funding to carry out medical adaptations to its properties. The level of funding available depends on current financial constraints. We liaise closely with Social Work Department who carry out the needs assessment of the individual tenants. Here is a list of some of the types of adaptations we have carried out in recent years: Installing an over-bath shower. Installing a walk in shower. Relocating a door entry handset from the hall to the living room (next to where he resident sits). Installing banisters, handrails, and grab rails.
Sometimes when the cost of the adaptation is prohibitive it may be better to transfer the tenant to a property more suited to their medical condition. In these cases, it is normally possible to add the applicants name to our medical priority transfer list. Last year we completed adaptions to 60 properties. By undertaking this work it should help ensure that those tenants who required adaptations are able to continue to live in their current homes.
